Last month Beating Anger and Stress Experts conducted some research into stress in the workplace and found that respondents in the East Midlands in particular were suffering from high levels of stress.

Another stress in the workplace survey has been released. This time from the well respected Nottingham University and Ulster University. Its published in Occupational Medicine and its worth reading. The headline is that Work-related stress has increased by 40% during the recession.

It resonates loud and clear with our own survey and findings. We found over 80% of respondents experiencing increased stress. The key stats for me were the effects.

·         57% cited lack of motivation

The CIPD’s latest employee outlook survey shows that stress is highest amongst middle managers. Almost 1 in 3 of these is currently concerned about losing their job in the current economic climate and almost half say that they feel under excessive pressure and have lost their work/life balance.

The Next Ten Percenter!

Some of you will know straight away what I mean by this and others may have a furrowed brow.

There are a lot of people interested in Ten Percenters. One of my first bosses was always on the lookout for them. Management consultants tend to be really keen spotters and managing directors have been known to be seen wandering round businesses with their eyes fixed at the ceiling, deep in thought, looking for a Ten Percenter.
